HOW OLD IS YOUR FOOD?

Why Fresh Food Still Matters

Walk into almost any grocery store today and you'll see an amazing selection of food.  The packaging makes it look fresh, healthy and convenient.   But here's a question most of us don't ask:  How old is it?  Not when did you buy it.  Not when does it expire.  When was it actually made? Because there's a big difference between food that was made yesterday in a local kitchen and food that was manufactured months ago thousands of miles away, packaged, shipped, stored and eventually pulled from a grocery store freezer shelf only to go into your freezer and get pulled all over again. Fresh isn't just a word. It's a philosophy.  At Simple Plan, we believe food should be made differently.  We don't make our food in a factory.  We make it in a local kitchen. We don't freeze it for months and ask you to bring it back to life later.  We never freeze it.  We start with nutritious ingredients and prepare real food that's designed to be enjoyed fresh.  That's a pretty simple idea.  And that's exactly the point.

Your food shouldn't need a passport.

Think about the journey some packaged foods take.  Corporate owned farm.  Processing facility.  Factory.  Packaging line.  Warehouse.  Distribution center.  Grocery store.  Freezer.  Your freezer.  Microwave. Eventually…your plate.  That's a lot of stops between the farm and your fork.  Simple Plan takes a different approach.  Fresh ingredients.  Real kitchen.  Real preparation.  Fresh food.  It's food made for people—not food engineered for a warehouse.

 But isn't frozen food nutritious?

Absolutely.  Frozen fruits and vegetables can retain plenty of their nutritional value, and we're not here to tell you that frozen food is automatically unhealthy.  But nutrition isn't the only reason we choose fresh.  We care about the entire food experience.  Nutrition.  Taste.  Appearance.  Texture.  Ingredients. Preparation.  Convenience.  And knowing that the meal you're eating was prepared as real food that is really good for you—not

assembled as a manufactured product.  There's something different about that.

Food shouldn't be complicated.

Somewhere along the way, healthy eating became incredibly complicated.  Count this.  Avoid that.  Read 37 ingredients.  Measure everything.  Prepare six different containers.  Find a recipe.  Buy 14 ingredients that you need but don’t have.  Then discover you're too tired to actually cook it. There has to be a simpler way.  That's why we created Simple Plan.  We believe eating well should fit into your life—not require you to reorganize your life around eating well.

Eat fresh. Eat local. Eat simple.  Eat real food.

That's our philosophy.  Eat Fresh.  Because fresh food tastes like food.  Eat Local.  Because supporting local food, local small businesses and local kitchens matters.  Eat Simple.  Because healthy eating shouldn't require a Ph.D. in nutrition or three hours in the kitchen.  And perhaps most importantly:  Eat Real Food.  Food made with recognizable ingredients, prepared in a real kitchen, and made for real people living real lives.

The Simple Plan difference

We're not trying to make food complicated.  We're trying to make eating well easier.  No factory.  No warehousing.  No months in the freezer.  No unnecessary journey between preparation and your plate.  Just fresh, nutritious food made in a kitchen—not a factory.  Because sometimes the best ideas really are the simplest ones.

Fresh food. Made fresh. Made simply.  That's the Simple Plan.
