If you’ve ever bailed on tracking because it took too long to plug in every ingredient, you’re not alone. Food logging is one of the biggest predictors of fat-loss success, but it’s also one of the first habits people abandon when life gets busy.

That’s why we’re so excited about the new AI label-scan feature in MyMacros+ and how perfectly it pairs with Simple Plan meals.

With a quick photo of our nutrition label, MyMacros+ can now pull in your calories, macros, and serving info for you—no more typing line-by-line or building custom foods from scratch. You get all the benefits of precise tracking with almost none of the friction.

In this post, we’ll walk through:

  • What MyMacros+ is and why so many macro-trackers love it

  • How the new AI label scan works with Simple Plan meals

  • Step-by-step instructions to set it up (with pro tips so your logs stay accurate)

  • How to use this combo to actually stick to your goals between holidays, parties, and busy weeks

Why MyMacros+ & Simple Plan is such a strong combo

MyMacros+ is a macro-focused tracking app built for people who care about protein, carbs, and fats—not just calories. It lets you set custom macro targets, save favorite foods and meals, and quickly log foods from a database or barcode scan.

Simple Plan meals are already designed to make that process easier:

  • Every meal comes with a clear nutrition label (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, and serving size).

  • Portions are consistent—so when you log a “Mozzarella Turkey Meatballs – Regular,” you know it’ll match every time you order it.

  • Our meals are built around high protein and balanced macros, so they drop into most fat-loss, recomposition, and performance plans without a lot of tweaking.

The missing piece has always been the time it takes to put those numbers into your tracker. That’s where MyMacros+ new AI label scan comes in.

What is the new AI label-scan feature in MyMacros+?

Recently, MyMacros+ rolled out a feature that lets you take a photo of a nutrition label, then uses on-device AI to read and fill in the details for you. Instead of typing:

Calories: 510
Protein: 38g
Carbs: 44g
Fat: 17g

…you simply snap a picture of your Simple Plan label and let the app do the data entry. You can then save that food to your personal database and log it in two taps going forward.

If you don’t see the feature yet, make sure your MyMacros+ app is fully updated to the latest version.

How to set it up with Simple Plan meals (step-by-step)

You only have to do this once per meal, then you’re set.

1. Update the app

  • Head to the App Store / Google Play and confirm you’re on the latest version of MyMacros+.

  • Open the app and log in like normal.

2. Grab a Simple Plan meal from your fridge

  • Keep the sleeve or label flat and well-lit so the text is easy to read.

  • If you ordered multiple of the same meal (for example, 3 × Loaded Beef & Mashed Potato Bowls), you only need to scan one of them.

3. Start adding a new food

  • Go to the meal you’re logging (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner).

  • Tap Add Food.

  • Look for the option that lets you scan or photograph a nutrition label (camera icon / “Scan Label” depending on your device).

4. Take a clear photo of the label

  • Fill the screen with the nutrition panel—especially calories, serving size, and macros.

  • Make sure nothing is cut off or blurred.

  • Snap the photo and let the AI process it.

5. Review and clean up the numbers

This part matters. Always:

  • Compare the calories and macros in the app to what you see on the label.

  • Fix anything that looks off (for example, if it mis-reads “18g” as “10g”).

  • Double-check the serving size — all Simple Plan labels are for the entire tray unless otherwise noted, so set serving size to “1 tray” or “1 meal.”

6. Save it as a custom Simple Plan meal

Give it a descriptive name so future you doesn’t have to guess:

  • SP – Mozzarella Turkey Meatballs (Reg)

  • SP – Beef Cowboy Casserole (Double Protein)

Save it to your custom foods / favorites. From now on, logging that meal is as simple as:

Add Food → Recent / Favorites → Tap the meal → Done.

Pro tips to keep your tracking accurate

The AI label scan is powerful, but it’s not magic. Pair it with a few simple habits and you’ll have near-perfect logs with almost zero effort:

  1. Scan each new Simple Plan meal only once.

You don’t need to scan it every week—just reuse the saved food entry.

  2. Create separate entries for regular vs. double protein.

A Double Protein Chicken Taco Bowl is not the same as a regular. Save them as two different foods so your protein stays spot-on.

  3. Use notes for tweaks.

If you don’t eat part of the meal (skip the sauce, leave some rice), you can either adjust the serving (e.g., 0.75 serving) or add a quick note so you remember patterns over time.

  4. Leverage “copy yesterday” on busy weeks.

If you eat the same breakfast and lunch all week, logging once and copying can save tons of time and keep adherence high.

Why this matters for your results

Research is clear: people who consistently self-monitor their intake lose more weight and maintain it better than those who don’t, and smartphone-based tools make that process easier and more sustainable.

But consistency only happens when tracking feels manageable.

By pairing Simple Plan’s pre-portioned, clearly labeled meals with MyMacros+ AI label scan, you remove most of the friction that usually kills progress:

  • No more guessing or “close enough” logging

  • No more skipping days because you “didn’t have time” to track dinner

  • No more relying on random entries from generic databases that don’t match what you actually ate

Instead, you get:

  • Fast, accurate logging in under 10 seconds per meal

  • High-protein, macro-friendly meals that already fit your goals

  • The confidence of knowing your numbers are real—not wishful thinking

How to put this into action this week

If you’re already a Simple Plan client:

  1. Update MyMacros+ and set up the label scan feature.

  2. Pick 3–4 of your go-to meals from this week’s order and scan their labels.

  3. Save them as favorites so you can log your entire day in under a minute.

If you’re not tracking yet but want to see what’s possible, start simple:

  • Set a daily protein goal,

  • Log just your Simple Plan meals for the first week,

  • Watch how much easier it becomes to nudge the rest of your day into alignment.

The less time you spend wrestling with your food log, the more energy you have left for training, family, and everything else that matters.
